Lettuce Lane
Lettuce lane is collaboration with Added Value's Compost director Melanie Chopko. Together we designed, foraged and grew for a traffic median planted with lettuce seedlings on Governor's Island in NYC for Figment 2008.
Participants harvested and tasted for making their own locally harvested salad. Vistors were encouraged to participate in the Lettuce Action Center. The Lettuce Action Center was a ballot that was on the last page of a foldable zine lettuce identification guide book, designed by Chopko and Carman. The lettuce action center ballots suggested participants to argue for growing food on governors island. The ballots were collected and brought to the director of governors island office where a brief meeting took place.
6 month's later, Chopko's non profit Added Value installed an extensive garden on the back end of the island!
