Collaborations > Household Affairs

Household Affairs is a work/labor/home collaboration between Natalie Campbell, Carissa Carman, Gretchen Hooker and Jessica Ownings. All 4 artists were living and working together in an underpaid glorious artist opportunity internship. In collaboration they designed and created objects, scenarios, interventions and installations responding to the desire to build beauty into home and bring community to the work life of manual upkeep within a non-profit arts center. In response, craft, home repair skills, maintenance work, and home making became the subject matter of each artist. We began by constructed our own work uniforms.

The performance occurred throughout their work day and the final installation took place in the temporary lodging, where visitors were encouraged to look through doors unmarked with hotel- like do not disturb signs, bringing curiosity into an unusual invasion and privacy of home.
